SCB channel syllabus

The pattern of entrance exam IAT ( IISER aptitude test)

There are a total of 60 questions. 15 question form each subject Physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics. Each question carries +3 marks for the correct answer and -1 for an incorrect one. All the 4 subjects are compulsory, means if you have either PCB or PCM in your senior secondary, then also you will have to face all the 4 subjects. Here the problem arises for the student who hasn't studied biology or mathematics in their senior secondary.

How to tackle this problem?

Now if you are not the PCMB student, then you are going to face the most irritating and exhausting problem. But there is a way out because the student has done it. Many of the students who came under the SCB channel are either from PCM background or from PCB background. So there is nothing to worry about. But HOW ????

I talked to many students who had faced the same problem. The solution in the centre is that do not attempt the subject which you have not studied at all.

A)  If you are a PCM student then you can study some basic biology which needs just reading once or twice and memorise some of the examples. Chapters like Ecology and Principle of inheritance from class 12th. You can also learn examples of animals and plants under the different phylum from class 11th books. But if you are not sure about the answer then please do not give the answer unless and until you are sure that you are getting 105 marks or above correctly.

B) If you are a biology student and have not studied maths in class 11 and 12th then please do not attempt any of the questions in maths. In particular, the question in biology is a bit easier than the maths so you can score much more than the people who are attempting maths and biology both.

You may attempt the mathematics questions as well until and unless you have studied maths officially or for interest because I have seen many students who are from PCB background but have studied maths as they are very interested in the subject and got admission and now are doing their majors in physics or mathematic subjects as well.

There is always an exception in both the cases but it is wiser to play a safer game when you are at an edge of winning.
